The Art Deco movement which spanned the period from about 1920 to about 1935, embraced fashion, architecture, jewellery and fine art.

An exciting and hedonistic time

With the end of the First World War and the start of the ‘Roaring Twenties’, designers began to embrace simplicity, rejecting the decadence and arrogance prevalent in the Edwardian era, an era of Great Power politics and the Titanic Disaster. It was an exciting and hedonistic time, marked by the popularity of jazz music and the decisive failure of Prohibition in the US.

An Eclectic Mix Of Design Influences

Art Deco-style engagement rings reflect the mood of that era, and draw on an eclectic mix of design influences: futuristic geometric configurations, Cubist art, and the flora and fauna of ‘the Orient’, Ancient Egypt and tribal Africa. They often combine diamonds and coloured gemstones, and platinum is the precious metal of choice.
